John Sangster, "The Joker Is Wild!"

John Sangster, an Australian jazz composer and player, started with trumpet and trombone. He led jazz combos and learned the vibraphone, combining percussion and wind instrument qualities. He explored experimental jazz, influenced by Sun Ra and Archie Shepp. His journey led to progressive rock, playing with the Australian band Tully and backing "Hair" for 2 years. His masterpiece: albums inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Those records are largely unavailable in the U.S. But we have “The Joker is Wild” for you right here.
